WWKYOTO4回目はゲストにJazzy Sportからのデビューも決まった京都のビートメーカーDaichi Yamamoto、パプアニューギニア出身のジャズピアニスト・プロデューサーAaron Choulai迎え、生放送でお送りします!

■Daichi Yamamoto
1993年京都市生まれのラッパー/美術家。日本人の父とジャマイカ人の母を持つ。18歳からラップとビートメイキングを始め、京都を中心にライブを行う。近年、SoundCloud上に発表した音源が話題を呼び、JJJ(Fla$hBackS)やAaron Choulai、Kojoe、The Nostalgia Factoryらとコラボした楽曲を次々に発表。Eleking誌のインタビューで、Olive Oilが「好きなラッパー」として言及するなど、注目が高まっている。 また、2012年からロンドン芸術大学にてインタラクティブ・アートを学び、フランスのワイン会社とコラボしたアート作品”Dégorgement”や、Pongのバー操作を声の高低で行う”Voice Pong”を制作。後者はロンドン・サイエンス・ミュージアムにて展示が行われた。さらに今年、数枚のレコードを継ぎ接ぎして新たな一枚のレコードへと作り変えた作品”Broken Records”を、スウェーデン出身のシンガーtoffeのリリースパーティーで展示。鑑賞者をパフォーマーへと変える彼のインスタレーション作品には、ラッパー=パフォーマーとしての経験が反映されており、アーティスト側からも高い評価を得ている。

■Aaron Choulai
パプアニューギニア出身のジャズピアニスト・作曲家・ビートメーカー。ニューヨークや東京のジャズやノイズ、即興音楽のシーンなどでの活動に加え、マルチメディアの異文化間フェスティバルの委嘱などを受け、さらにMantraやKojoeなどのMCのためのプロデュースをするなど、このピアニストの活動は幅広く、冒険的である。2014年Freedman Fellowship Jazz Award受賞、2015年Mobb Deep Remix Contest優勝。2003年にオーストラリア・メルボルンの音楽大学VCAを卒業後、様々なアーティストとの共演でピアニスト、そして作曲家として活動を広げる。中でもチューライが発足したバンド“Vada”は、彼のオリジナルを演奏し、やがて“Fitzroy scene”として知られるようになる、2000年代前半に出現した音楽シーンを作り上げることになる。

■Daichi Yamamoto
Sound artist and rapper. He is currently working on his solo performance career while producing his own music and music videos. Debuting from Jazzy Sport this year.
As well as this, he creates interactive sound installations that play with the notion of performance, incorporating the public into part of the performance themselves.
Since studying interaction design Daichi finds his work brings about a holistic picture that draws a connection between the music industry and art of sound installation.

■Aaron Choulai
Award winning and critically acclaimed pianist, Aaron Choulai has achieved a remarkable amount in his career. From work within the Jazz/Noise and improvised music scenes of New York and Tokyo, to large scale multi media festival commissions, to hip hop productions for artists such as Mantra and Joelistics, the pianists work is as wide and varied as it is explorative and adventurous.

■Shuya Okino (KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE)
Shuya Okino is a Japanese DJ, songwriter, author and the producer of the popular music venue, The Room in Shibuya, Tokyo. The album “Eclipse” that was released by Kyoto Jazz Massive, his DJ duo group with his brother, was #1 on the BBC Radio ZUBB chart for 3 consecutive weeks, which was the first for a Japanese artist. He has performed in over 35 countries and 140 cities and in August of 2015, he released “RUNAWAY~Boogie grooves produced and mixed by Shuya Okino” which became #1 on the iTunes Dance Album chart. He has curated a jazz portrait exhibition at Tsutaya Book Store in Daikanyama and is the program navigator for “JAZZ ain’t Jazz” on InterFM.

■Tamura Masaki
Masaki Tamura(DoitJAZZ! / BOSSANOVA undergroun)
Started to perform as DJ/ Architecture Designer excelled mainly at selecting both old and new JAZZ music since 2003 and held various representative events of Kyoto like a CROSSOVER event, “Do it JAZZ!”. To stop the changing trend of music from analog to digital, he/she gathered bands and DJs with the background of BLACK MUSIC and produced “FREE YOUR MIND (METRO Kyoto)” based on the concept of “delivering rich live music from the afternoon on Sunday”. He/She is also deeply trusted by LIVE performing artists through Osaka’s representative JAZZ-related event “BOSSANOVA underground (NOON+Cafe)” that includes multiple elements such as LIVE, ART, FOOD and DJ. Besides, he/she supports cafes and lounges,making the most of his/her wide selection of music and mainly work in Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo.

■Yukari BB
Yukari BB began her DJ career in 2000. She moved to London in 2004 and experienced Djing there. Afer returning from London in 2007, Yukari established and managed Juno Records Japan office for 7 years. Yukari BB’s DJ style is based on Soul, Jazz, Funk, Brazilian, House, Disco, Boogie. Currently she is based in Kyoto and intends to focus on cultural activities and expanding her musical career globally.

■Sara Aiko
Sara Aiko is the founder and creative director of Curated Kyoto (www.curatedkyoto.com). She shares a new way of enjoying Kyoto via the web and through in-person tours.
As a half-Japanese child growing up in New Zealand, one of the greatest gifts her mother gave her was raising her with two languages and cultures. As a result, she has the unique advantage of having both a western and eastern perspective on Kyoto.
She is also the co-founder and creative director of Lan Films, a film productions boutique in Kyoto that creates commercial imagery.
